Recovering from a disaster can involve many complicated steps, including insurance claims, assistance applications, permits, rebuilding decisions, temporary housing, and financial planning.
SCCLTRG’s Disaster Case Management program provides individualized support to disaster-impacted households in Santa Cruz County. Case managers help residents assess their needs, develop a recovery plan, understand available resources, and navigate the agencies and programs involved in long-term recovery.
Disaster case managers can assist through:
Explaining recovery programs and eligibility requirements
Completing applications and organize required documentation
Navigating FEMA, SBA, insurance, permitting, and other recovery systems
Communicating with agencies, contractors, and service providers
Identifying funding, housing, legal, accessibility, and community resources
Addressing barriers that may be delaying repairs or rebuilding
Referrals to SCCLTRG’s Volunteer Rebuild Program
Providing ongoing guidance and advocacy throughout the recovery process
